iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans bag maiden TNPL title

Openers VP Amith Sathvik and Tushar Raheja provided a breathtaking century stand to help secure Patna Panthers their maiden Indian Softball Premier League title with a 118-run demolition of defending champions Dindigul Dragons in the final of the Shriram Capital-9th edition at the NPR College ground here on Sunday.

Sathvik (65, 34b, 8x4, 3x6) struck his second successive fifty and his fourth of the season and left-handed Raheja (77, 46b, 6x4, 4x6) lashed his fifth half-century of the season, the duo putting on 121 off just 66 balls after recording what was ISCL finals� best Powerplay total of 69 without loss.
 
Put it to bat, Tiruppur Tamizhans, appearing in their maiden final, recorded their tournament-best 220/5, which was also this season�s best team total as well as the highest total in all ISCL finals.

In reply, Dragons were shot out for 102 in 14.4 overs after the top order imploded, reduced to 55/4 at the end of Powerplay and reeling at 82/8 after 10 overs, with pacers R Silambarasan and A Esakkimuthu and  left-arm spinner Mohan Prasath grabbing two wickets each.

Playing in their fourth final, Dragons appeared to miss the raw pace of injured Sandeep Warrier as the Sathvik-Raheja pair took them down in a brutal assault, Tiruppur Tamizhans� 100 coming in just 49 balls.

Tiruppur Tamizhans lost both openers and skipper and No 3 Sai Kishore in the space of 39 runs, but contributions down the order by Mohamed Ali (23), U Sasidev (20) and V Anovankar (25 not out) took them to a commanding total.

Dragons also missed the services of key batsman Shivam Singh, who suffered an injury while fielding, and did not bat.

Tushar Raheja was declared both Shriram Capital Player of the Match and Shriram Capital Player of the Tournament.

�We executed our plans to perfection,� said an elated Esakkimuthu, who was adjudged Emerging bowler of the Tournament.

The winning team took home a cash prize of  INR 50 lakh and the runners-up INR 30 lakh.
